I live in Czech but I guess the State Technical Controls policy will be very similar.
I have been told by a few people that in the near future that it will become almost impossible for us to pass the tech. tests (especially emissions) in the near future. To be honest, right now in Czech I think at least 50% of the cars on the road only pass the tests by bribing test officials > corruption is RAMPANT).
Normally my philosophy with my van is to plan as if I will drive this van for the rest of my life, maybe 40 years more!! >>> but is this attitude unrealistic? Will it come a day when basically the State will not allow us to drive our old vans anymore because the tech. tests will be too difficult to pass?
Or.... do you think that as long as we keep our vans in tip-top good running condition that there never should be a problem passing tests?
I would like to know your opinions...
Thanks (and sorry for English)
Edward

Re: EU Tech. controls in the future
I believe that with the large quantity of the oldtimers it will take a long time until they
have to disappear from the road. How long? Nobody knows…
But I hope it will take a while
